Microsoft Project 2003

Workshop Description

Offered stand alone or as an addendum to the Essential Skills for Managing Projects Workshop, this course is targeted at project leaders (at all levels in the organization) and experienced project leaders who want to learn more about using Microsoft Project with the Griffin Tate CORE Project Management® Methodology.

The objective of this workshop is to cover and drill down on the Microsoft 2003 feature set most commonly used.  We suggest a method to shortcut the confusion of MS Project's five different task types and resource-driven default.  This will help you understand “who's working when” on your project, and whether or not you have correctly assigned individuals.

Another area of focus is on reducing the key condensing into a story that fits onto one computer screen or one or two printed pages. This is a valuable capability for working with large project plans. We will also demystify filters, sorting and reports so you can create cogent information from masses of less important data.

The intricacies of tracking status against the original baseline are not one of MS Project's strong points. We'll show you what can and cannot be done.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Assign and level resources
  • Place and remove constraints
  • Customize the environment using tables, filters & sorts
  • Customize how MS Project is formatted on the screen
